Veteran Tennis administrator, Suresh Subramaniam who was Secretary General of the Asian Tennis Federation(ATF) since 2005 was appointed Vice President of the ATF in Jakarta, Indonesia last week.  He is the first Sri Lankan to hold this prestigious position.  He served the ATF board from 2002. He was the uncontested past president of the Sri Lanka Tennis Association from 2002 to 2007.

As Secretary General of the ATF, Suresh was responsible for starting the Asian junior circuit which has now spread to 25 nations with more than 60 tournaments per year.

The ATF is a non-profit organisation affiliated to the International Tennis Federation. It is a central body of national tennis associations of Asian countries. The ATF’s main objectives are to raise the standard of Asian tennis and to popularize tennis among the people of Asia.

There are currently 44 member associations who represent their respective nations. The ATF works closely with the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and supports its member associations through the implementation of a wide range of programmes.
