Cordova footballers and Baghdad ruggerites win titles
Cordova House emerged football champs while Baghdad House clinched the rugby title at the annual Inter-House Sports Fiesta held at the Racecourse ground in Colombo recently. The annual Sports Fiesta was held to determine the winners of football and rugby and was organised by the Zahira College Batch of `94 Old Boys.
Hundreds of old boys representing Angora, Cordova, Istanbul and Baghdad Houses took part in this tournament, with excitement taking the fore throughout the event.
Winning skippers Mafaz Azeez of Cordova House and Mohamed Hunzil of Baghdad House received their respective awards from the Principal of Zahira College, Trizviiy Mariikar and the President of Zahira College Old Boys’ Association in the United Kingdom, Mohamed Reezan.
The main sponsor of the tournament was Nyth Global Venture while Viro Locks came on board as a co-sponsor. Zahira College Prefect of Games, Mushin Ariff, President of the Batch of 94 Refai Moulana, Project Chairman Akram Farook and Project Secretary Mohamed Rizwan were also present at the awards ceremony.
