Christmas cake off from your favourite bakers

Capturing the Christmas vibe in an exquisite collection of designer cakes, the first ever “Anchor X’mas Cake Off”, a bakers’ competition of Christmas-inspired cakes, hosted by Fonterra, was held on December 6 at the Anchor Food Professionals, Solution Kitchen, Colombo.
The competition featured eight cakes created by talented bakers from specialty bakeries and cafes including Mitsi’s Delicacies, Divine Cakes, Skrumptious, Baguette, Coco Veranda, Tea Avenue, Mrs. G’s Delights and Bread Talk. Each cake was designed in a unique way, with popular Christmas symbols as decorations, representing each chef’s creativity and skill.
The cakes were made using at least one Anchor Food Professionals dairy ingredient, including Anchor butter, extra whipping cream and cream cheese.
Judging the cakes was Anchor Food Professionals’ Chef Jaime Aserappa, a pastry chef with over 20 years experience, Chef Thilak Rodrigo, executive pastry chef with over 35 years in the industry and Narmada Muller, Editor of ‘Gourmet Circle’.
The creations will be judged under the criteria of the theme, flavours and the texture, neatness and position of the decorations, choice of colours, creativity and originality, general appearance and presentation, said Chef Jaime.
The winners of “Anchor X’mas Cake Off” competition will be announced within 7-10 days.
Each designer cake displayed at the competition is available for cake lovers to taste and purchase throughout the season at the participating bakeries and cafes.
