Dressed in traditional kilts of red and green, the Dollar Academy Pipe Band performed at the British High Commission last month in honour of St. Andrew’s Day which is celebrated on November 30. St. Andrew’s Day is the national day of Scotland, celebrated by British embassies globally. The band is part of Dollar Academy, the oldest co-educational day and boarding school in the world.

The band has played in Sri Lanka in honour of St. Andrew’s Day in the past, although for most of the band members who came this year, it was their first time in Sri Lanka.

The Dollar Academy Pipe Band has won the Scottish CCF Championship for 13 consecutive years and competes in the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association at juvenile and novice grade. In 2014 they were crowned World Champions.
