Fouzan cruises through to two easy wins

The first day’s proceedings of the All Island Lanka Plate Snooker Championship which got underway at the Moors SC billiards table in Braybrooke Place yesterday saw Fouzan Hussain of Pyramid Snooker Parlour Kandy recording back to back wins against two cueists from Colombo.
Fouzan secured both his wins in the morning session with the first being against M.F.M. Aflal of MICH and the other against S.I. Hinoon of YMCA. Pyramid Snooker Parlour had another winner in D. John who coasted to an easy win against C. Balendran of Grand Hotel Nuwara Eliya.
Young Mohamed Thaha of MICH the schoolboy from Lyceum IS Wattala who emerged the Colombo District champion last week continued his winning spree when he overcame his experience club mate Infiyaz Farook in a match that went to the wire.
The others to come out victorious were K.H. Sirisoma (SLPA) the reigning national billiard champion, W.S.T. Madusanka (ICSC), Samantha Liyanage (YMBA Galle), Mohamed Abzal (POP) and Riyaz Noor (The Cue) while H.M.A. Ali (POP), T.D. Maduranga (Army) and S.H.M. Aslam (MSC) received walk overs. The evening session of matches was in progress.
The All Island Lanka Plate Snooker Championship conducted by the Billiards and Snooker Association of Sri Lanka is the final qualifying tournament to select the cueists who will proceed to participate in the forthcoming 65th National Snooker Championship scheduled to be held later this month.
