Sri Lanka and China in the eyes of photographers
View(s):To mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sri Lanka, a photographic exhibition titled ‘Sri Lanka and China in the Eyes of Photographers’ was held at J.D.A. Perera Gallery in Colombo 07on November 23 and 24.

The exhibition was opened by Petroleum Resources Development Minister and Chief Guest Arjuna Ranatunga. Chinese Ambassador Yi Xianliang participated as a guest of honour. A high powered delegation led by Hu Sishe, Vice President of Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) also graced the opening ceremony.
The exhibition displayed 150 artistic photographic works following an exchange arrangement programme involving potographers of the two countries. Two Sri Lankan photographers Panduka de Silva and Ravindra Ranasinghe toured and captured photos of life and sites in Beijing, Shanxi, Hangzhou and Shanghai, while Chinese photogrpahers Wang Lin and Wang Yi extensively covered locations in Sri Lanka.
Under this programme, the first exhibition was held in Pingyao in Shanxi province of China in September. The third exhibition will be held in Hangzhou at the end of this month.Participants were gifted a valuable picture album courtesy of CPAFFC. The project was co-hosted by the Sri Lanka China Society, the CPAFFC and Jetwing Travels Ltd.
