PEO TV felicitates Father of Lankan cinema

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) PEO TV has dedicated a movie belt to honour Sri Lanka’s pioneer filmmaker Dr. Lester James Peries during the month of December . With the theme “Lester, He is the cinema”, eight films will be telecast at 9 pm on every Saturday and Sunday on PEO TV Channel 365.

Among the films to be telecast are ‘Rekhawa’, ‘Gam Peraliya’, ‘Beddegama’, ‘Desa Nisa’, ‘Delowak Athara’, ‘Gehenu Lamai’, ‘Madol Doowa’ and ‘Maya’ which will be telecast.

“This film festival felicitating Dr. Peries, the senior most filmmaker in the country is done to promote artistic creation in a society which is highly commercialized,” Yasith Piyasinghe, from the Sri Lanka Telecom said.
