SriaLankan flight divert from Abu Dhabi to Al Ain

A SriLankan Airlines flight was among many that were affected by thick ground fog in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday night. The fog caused the closure of the Abu Dhabi Airport.

SriLankan Airlines said that unforeseen thick ground fog led to the closure of the airport and the diversion of UL207 to Al Ain Airport.
Due to the inability of accommodating the passengers there and with Abu Dhabi suffering extended delays, the aircraft was repositioned to Muscat in Oman. Due to crew duty time limitations it was forced to stay there overnight, the statement said.

“We realise this has disrupted the holiday plans of many of our customers, which we regret. The unseasonal fog conditions in the UAE have led to many disruptions over the past few days and SriLankan is doing its utmost to recover the situation,” the airline added.
