Maris Stella crush St. John’s by innings
Maris Stella crushed St John’s Panadura by an innings and five runs in their Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter concluded at Negombo yesterday. The outright win for Maris Stella was laid by Kevin Perera who slammed a quick fire 141 ball knock of 164 which included 25 boundaries and three sixes with support coming from Ashen Fernando and Ravindu Fernando which helped them post a formidable score of 336 for 7 declared.
St Benedict’s too coasted to an outright win when they outclassed Moratu MV by an innings and 36 runs in the match which ended at Kotahena yesterday.
St Benedict’s after bowling out their opponents for a low score of 116 and ending day one on 207 for 7 went on to make a score of 271 with overnight batsman Kaveeska Jayatilleke making a top score of 79.
Moratu MV batting the second time having to erase a deficit of 155 runs was in deep trouble again and was in a bad position of 81 for 6 before being bundled out for 119 runs.
Zahira recorded their first outright win of the season when they defeated Bandaranayake MMV Gampaha by five wickets in the match concluded at Maradana yesterday.
