Etihad Airways surprises passengers on Dec 23 flight
View(s):Etihad Airways surprised guests travelling on EY22 from Manchester to Abu Dhabi on December 23 with what it dubbed “the most wonderful flight of the year”, showering food, songs and gifts on pleasantly, surprised passengers.
In a FB post, the airline said: “We know that travelling during the holiday period can be stressful, so we put the true meaning of ‘holiday’ back into holidays.”
A 70-second video of the surprise event shows passengers including many children greeted at the check-in counter with staff dressed in Santa outfits, check-in with special boarding passes, a boarding gate party at the check-in lounge with plenty of seasonal food and drink, carol singing, “trumpets-sounding”, and a present from Santa for every passenger on board and then hearing the captain say: “This is your captain speaking. We hope you enjoyed our holiday surprise at the airport today.
Now sit back and enjoy the flight to Abu Dhabi.”

No other airline allows economy class passengers to have a free business/first class cabin, and that too with all the amenities. Many a time Etihad cabin crew has provided me extra meals and sometimes have even given away meals allotted to business/first class passengers. The cabin crew are the best behaved persons in the world.”
- Lucia Maturi: “I am in this video at 19 seconds and it was a truly wonderful experience and when you went to board there was a massive party; people were having a carol service. Santa was there, free beverages and it was truly amazing. Thank you so much Etihad for letting me be in this video and thank you sooooo much [there was no turbulence], and when we actually boarded the plane you got a nice watch from Santa for the kids and a pack of really nice body lotions for the adults!
