Indian scholarships galore for 2018-19
View(s):The Indian High Commission in Colombo has announced a series of scholarship on offer for the 2018 -2019 academic sessions: More than 175 scholarships are on offer. Among them are the Nehru Memorial Scholarship scheme where 100 scholarships are being offered for undergraduate courses excluding medicine. The scholarships cover a wide range of subjects including Engineering, Science, Business, Economics, Commerce, Humanities and Arts (including Classical Music, Classical Dance and Visual Arts).
The Maulana Azad Scholarship Scheme which offers 50 scholarships for Masters Degree courses including Engineering, Science, Economics, Commerce, Humanities and Arts has also been announced. However, preference would be given to the fields of Engineering, Science and Agriculture.
Under the Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship Scheme 25 slots are offered for undergraduate courses in the field of Information Technology, Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor or Technology. The Indian High Commission said the Government of India selects the students on merit to award scholarships to. Selection of candidates is done in consultation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Highways of Sri Lanka, to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in some of the top most universities and institutions in India.
All scholarships cover full tuition fees for the entire duration of the course, monthly sustenance allowance, and annual grant for books and stationery.
The selected candidates would also be provided hostel facilities inside the campus. All scholars are provided full healthcare facilities, air fare to the nearest destination in India and an annual grant for educational tours to various parts of the country, apart from several other auxiliary benefits.
The eligible candidates can download the application forms from the website of the Ministry of Higher Education and Highways at www.mohe.gov.lk. The last date for submission of duly filled up application forms for undergraduate and postgraduate courses is January 15, 2018. Prospective students are advised to approach the Ministry of Higher Education and Highways to learn more about the eligibility criteria and selection procedure.
