Sandun’s ten helps Richmond to an innings win at Uyanwatta
A match bag of ten by Sandun Mendis saw Richmond home for tea with an innings and 62 run win over St. Thomas’ College Matara at Uyanwatta.
The Thomians electing to bowl first did well to restrict Richmond to a first innings score of 199. Akash Kavinda and Adithya Siriwardena scored half tons while skipper Avindu Theekshana chipped in with 20 runs while Sandun Mendis was unbeaten on 18. Gishanthika Jayaweera captured three wickets while Kavindu Ridmal, Sineth Sithara and Sachira Rashmika captured two wickets each.
Thomians continuing from their overnight score of 40 for 3 were crashed to 67 runs as Sandun Mendis 6/13 off 14.1 overs and Dilum Sudeera 3/18 off 18 overs played havoc. Woshitha Amarasinghe topped the score card with 20.
Following on the Thomians were spun out for 70 runs by Sandun Mendis and Thaveesha Abhishek capturing four wickets each. STC skipper Tharusha Kavindya scored 26 to be the only batsman to enter double figures.
