Sisters Sanduni and Kasuni to clash in girl’s Under-19 squash finals
Sisters Sanduni and Kasuni Gunewardena of Visakha Vidyalaya Colombo qualified for the final of the girl’s under 19 finals at the 28th Junior National Squash Championships continued at the Air Force Indoor Stadium, Ratmalana yesterday.
Their final game is scheduled to be worked off at 4 pm today. The boy’s finals will be between Druvinka Perera and Shamil Wakeel, the defending champion. This game will be at 4.30 p.m.
The competition is being conducted under six age groups. 262 players took part in the contest island wide.
The Sri Lanka Squash Federation is conducting the competition.
Results Girls:
- Under-9: Champion – Nihansa Dias; Runner-up – Liara Rajapakse. Scores: 11-2, 11-7 and 11-2.
- Under-11: Champion – R.I. Wood; Runner-up – Miyuni Mishara Weerasinghe, Scores: 11-1, 11-1 and 11-6.
- Under-13: Champion – Chanithma Sinary; Runner-up – Anargi Perera, Scores: 11-2, 11-2 and 11-6.
- Under-15: Champion – Yehani Kuruppu; Runner-up – Chanithma Sinary. Scores: 11-7, 15-3, 7-11, 5-11 and 11-6.
- Under-17: Champion – Samira Deen; Runner-up – Yehani Kuruppu. Scores: 8-11, 11-5, 11-9 and 11-9.
Results Boys:
- Under-11: Champion – Hiruna Koralage; Runner-up – Sithuka Nethmira. Score – 11-4, 11-8 and 11-6.
- Under-13: Champion – V.A. Nividu Lakman. Runner-up – Shehan Perera. Scores 11-4, 11-6 and 11-4.
- Under-15: Champion – M.I.F. Asmone. Runner-up – Nevidu Lakman. Scores: 11-7, 11-6, 9-11 and 12-10.
