Fairway Galle Literary Festival – North South University collaboration 2018
View(s):As part of its community outreach, the Fairway Galle Literary Festival is conducting the North-South University Collaboration as a platform for reconciliation and bridge building.
Now in its fifth year, the programme will host students and academics from the English Language departments of the Universities of Sri Jayewardanepura, Southeastern University, Sabaragamuwa, Ruhuna, Peradeniya, Jaffna, Colombo and Rajarata to experience the festival together. English will be their ‘link’ language.
The students will attend programmes featuring award-winning authors that will focus on topics relevant to their communities and everyday realities, as well as to their English Language and Literature studies. Student feedback from previous years proposed allowing the students some choice in selecting what they want to see and this has been arranged during a certain period.
The visiting students and academics will also have two workshops especially designed for them with authors and participants from the Festival. The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany is the cultural partner of The North-South University Collaboration. The Fairway Galle Literary Festival takes place from January 24-28.
