‘Kuweni’ in town
View(s):Henry Jayasena’s “Kuweni” which was presented as a new production will be staged at 6.30 pm on January 17 at Panibaratha auditorium of the University of Performing and Visual art, Colombo. Produced by Prasannajith Abeysuriya, the play was originally produced by H. M. Bandara and its music direction is by Shantha Peiris. Stage setting by Dasun Bandara and choreography and costume designing are by Prasannajith himself.
‘Kuweni’ which was released as an experimental play during the 60s won 6 awards including the best drama at the National Drama festival. With Nimal Jayasinghe who was in the oirignal cast the other players include Kasuni Ganewatte, Anuradha Mallawarachci, S. I. Samarakkody, Tharaka Kurundukarakage, Nisansala Gunawardena, Samith Palliyawatte, Rangajith Abeysuriiya, Kasun Rathugamagedara, Danushka Samaranayake, Gimhani Athawuda, Isuru Dissanayake, Sanchala Kohombagahage, Hirushan Hettiarachchi, Akalanka Liyanarachchi, Sudarshana Sakrage, Anusha Madhusha and other artistes in performance.
