‘The dress code didn’t say anything about not looking our best’: Angelina Jolie, Jessica Biel, Kerry Washington and Catherine Zeta Jones dazzle at Golden Globes red carpet amid protest

Hollywood united in solidarity with victims of sexual harassment and assault by wearing black on the red carpet at the 75th Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton last Sunday.

But that didn’t mean the likes of Angelina Jolie, Jessica Biel, Kerry Washington and Catherine Zeta Jones gave up the opportunity to shine as they led at the red carpet glamour, with Zeta Jones, 48, telling the Daily Mail: ‘The dress code didn’t say anything about not looking our best.’

The colour black was chosen as a way for the movie and TV industry to make a statement against a pervasive culture of misconduct, brought to light by the downfall of shamed movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, as a galaxy of stars officially kicked off 2018 awards season at the high-profile event.

Angelina, 42, wowed in a stunning black Atelier Versace gown with feathered sleeves and a sheer neckline.

Meanwhile, Jessica and Kerry chose to flaunt their sculpted arms in strapless dresses.

Kerry, who plays Olivia Pope on the TV show Scandal, flashed her pins in a ruched sequined number by Prabal Gurung.

Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on Game Of Thrones, wore a plunging form fitting gown and rocked bright pink lipstick and neutral polish.

Reese Witherspoon, who starred in and executively produced the hit show Big Little Lies, shone in her black one-shouldered gown.

Reese’s co-star and co-executive producer, Nicole Kidman, went for a completely different look.

Helen Mirren, 72, and Alicia Vikander, 29, both chose carpet skimming dresses with sheer long sleeves.

This Is Us actress and former singer Mandy Moore also decided to go with a more demure neckline; the TV star however chose a black dress – by Rosie Assoulin – with a red fabric belt.

Orange Is The New Black star Samira Wiley wore a gold and black dress as well; the Netflix star’s unique frock had a statement making neckline.

Allison Williams, 29, was a vision in the ornately designed strapless gown by Armani Prive, which featured burnt orange and silver elements and a textured skirt.

The Girls actress paired the eye catching ensemble with chunky diamond choker, pulled back locks and minimal makeup.

Other stars rocking the fitted strapless look included Kerry, Zoe Kravitz and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

On the other end of the spectrum was the blazer trend; actresses like Gal Gadot and America Ferrara layered the cover up over their chosen looks.

Gal, who brought her husband Yaron Versano, wowed in a fitted ruched dress with a cropped blazer, red lipstick and dangling earrings.

Gal’s stunning dress and cover up are Tom Ford, from his spring 2018 collection.

The Crown star Claire Foy hit the carpet in a classic suit with crimson lips; Kyra Sedgwick chose a higher cut suit for the Golden Globes.

Outlander actress Caitriona Balfe decided to go for a one-of-a-kind looking frock by Chanel from their fall 2017 haute couture collection.

The silk taffeta featured tulle flowers and crystals emblazoned all over.

The lack of other colours was chosen as a simple way to show solidarity with the victims of sexual harassment and assault.

It proved the most prominent and public display yet for the movement that has swept through Hollywood, leaving a trail of disgraced men in its wake.
