Bloomfield reply strongly to CCC’s mammoth score

CCC having ended day one with a score of 380 for 6 went on to amass a mammoth score of 445 against Bloomfield in the morning session of play in the Premier League Tier A inter-club cricket encounter played at Reid Avenue.
CCC’s mammoth score came on the back of a quick fire and a career best knock of 168 by Sachith Pathirana who made it in 118 balls that included 19 boundaries and eight sixes.
Sachith along with Madawa Warnapura who made 85 rescued the side with the putting on a massive 231 runs partnership for the sixth wicket when they were back to the walls on 89 for 4. Bloomfield in their turn was making steady progress with the openers Nipun Karunanayake and Nisal Fransisco. They put on over a hundred runs for the opening wicket.
Ragama CC continued their domination against Moors SC in the match played at Braybrooke Place. Ragama CC continuing from their overnight score of 358 for 7 went on to make 380 and then had Moors SC struggling on 164 for 6.
In the match between SLPA CC and NCC at FTZ Katunayake where NCC held the advantage on day one has now almost turned in favour of SLPA CC who are cruising in pursuit of a victory target of 220 runs as they ended day two on 129 for 2 needing a further 91 runs for victory when play gets underway on the final day.
Tamil Union succeeded to get the better of Group B table leaders Chilaw Marians with a first lead when play ended on day two at P. Sara Stadium.
The second day’s proceedings saw Tamil Union from their overnight score of 296 for 9 going on to make 305 and then restricting Chilaw Marians to a score of 296.
Colts CC and Badureliya CC have already taken a first lead against Saracens SC and Army SC in the matches played at the Colts ground and Surrey Village ground in Maggona.
