Peradeniya Uni. Graduates have overseas exposure: Prof Abeyratne
View(s):University of Peradeniya (UoP), International Affairs Office Director Professor Anoma Abeyratne said that, since 2010, the Center has been offering UoP Graduates opportunities to establish contacts and also receive overseas education for the benefit of the University.
Prof Abeyratne said there had been continual exchange programmes and long study programmes of Graduates for the benefit of the country.
Prof Abeyratne added that even administrative officers had been sent on this programme to study the relevant needs of the University.
Prof Jakub Macha of the University of Masaryk in Czech Repulic, said he had been in Sri Lanka for this programme as a coordinator and also been at the UoP under this programme. He said that in the Czech Republic, nearly 50% of youth attend University, and Education is free .
Professor Macha said that another important factor is there are study programmes at the University for Seniors over 50 years. He said that education is wide open in his country and they need all to be qualified.
The Registrar of the Center, Dr Nandana addressed the participants.
