CDB’s Piyumal’s 10-3-15-7 is weekend’s highpoint
An devastating spell by Chamod Piyumal, 10-3-15-7, of Citizens Development Business (CDB) destroyed last year’s runners-up, Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) for a paltry 83 runs in 27.5 overs, enabling CDB to coast to an 8-wicket victory– 84 for 2, in 11.3 overs, in the ongoing 7th Prestige Automobile (Pvt) Ltd., – ‘BMW/Hyundai’ Trophy, MCA ‘C’ Division 50-Over League Tournament 2018, continued last weekend.
Half-tons by Arjuna Perera (71 in 96 balls with 10 fours), Chandimal Perera (67 not out in 53 balls with 4 sixes and 6 fours) and M. Deshapriya (52) helped Commercial Leasing & Finance (CLF) to register the weekend’s highest total of 277 for 8 in 50 overs, and beat Stafford Motors (Stafford) by a big margin of 100 runs.
A notable double by Tharindu Lakshan (4 for 25 and 46 runs) steered Nations Trust Bank (NTB) ‘A’ to a 3-wickets win over Softlogic Holdings (Softlogic).
