CCC School of Cricket teams return with mixed fortunes from India
View(s):CCC School of Cricket’s Under-15 and Under-12 cricket teams, who participated in their 21st tour abroad, where they were hosted by St. John’s Sports Coaching Foundation, Hyderabad, India returned to the Island with mixed fortunes after playing 21 matches for the Friendship Trophy in Hyderabad. All matches were on turf wickets of 30 overs duration.
While the seniors won nine out of their ten matches, the Under-12 teams suffered the opposite results winning only two out of their 11 matches.
Under-15 encounters were very keenly contested and most matches against hosts, St. John’s CA were very exciting and exhibited fighting qualifies of both teams. Under-12 team found the opposition, too tough to handle as juniors improved with each game.
Well organised Awards Ceremony was held on the final day, where special awards were made to the best performers of both sides. Director of Coaching, CCC School of Cricket Nelson Mendis was the Chief Guest, While Head of St. John’s Sports Coaching Foundation, and Ravi Subasinghe CCC’s Tour Manager were the Guest of Honour.
Best Performers Under-12 –
Best Batsman and Player of the Series: Thenushka Nanayakkara; Best Bowler: Prakash Gamaathige; Best Fielder: Ashen Kottachchi; Young Promising Players: Thevindu Wewalwala and Shan Dabare.
Under-15 –
Best Batsman and Player of the Series: Ishan Sharma; Best Bowler: Shyamsunder Krishnasriram; Best Fielder: Gihan Dharmaratne.
