Elizabeth Moir takes on Ed Monk’s “Bedtime Stories
This March, the junior school of Elizabeth Moir will get creative with everyone’s favourite stories with their spin on Ed Monk’s “Bedtime Stories (As Told by Our Dad) (Who Messed Them Up)”. The play will be directed by Chalana Wijesuriya, who is also the school drama teacher.
The actor/director has several school productions under his belt with Visakha Vidyalaya and this marks his first with Elizabeth Moir. The cast of 37 active 6-11 year olds will tackle Monk’s hilarious play which centres around a father’s unusual attempts at tackling the bedtime stories we know and love. Sprinkled with music, dance and witty dialogue, the tall tales range from “The Boy Who Cried Dinosaur” (a twist on the more familiar “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”) to “the Princess and the Pea” featuring a can of peas and Rumpelstiltskin; the castle garbage collector armed with a deadpan face and catchphrase to match.
Bedtime Stories (As Told by Our Dad) (Who Messed Them Up) by Ed Monk arranged by special arrangement with Playsripts.Inc will be staged on March 2 and 3 at the Russian Cultural Center at 7 pm. Tickets are available at the junior school.
