Two more cannons dating back to the British period have been unearthed at a construction site for an accident ward of the Trincomalee Hospital, the Department of Archaeology said.

Archaeology Director W. H. A. Sumanadasa said the new discovery came days after his department officials unearthed the first cannon. He said further excavations had exposed two more cannons, all of which dated back to the British colonial period. The excavation was carried out with the support of the Navy, Mr. Sumanadasa said adding that the items had been handed over to the Navy Maritime Museum in Trincomalee.
