The silver anniversary edition of Sri Lanka’s acclaimed open-air art fair, Kala Pola, will take place at Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha in Colombo 7 today, Sunday February 25. High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Taranjit Singh Sandhu will be the chief guest at the opening.

Come, listen to young musicians from Kurunegala
The children of The Music Project will perform at Kala Pola for the second successive year. An orchestra of musicians from two village schools and one school (in Kurunegala town who have rehearsed as an orchestra for over five years, will perform light classics. The children play instruments ranging from violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, oboe, trumpet, trombone, bassoon and percussion and they perform a wide genre of music ranging from popular light classics to local fusion.The children hail from challenged backgrounds and music is a unifying mission as they perform as one voice as a united orchestra; the mission of the project is that of social cohesion providing the children with alternative prospects of performance and opportunity.
