Declare a World Day for “Dengue”: Dr Muruganathan
The Governor of the Indian Chapter of the American College of Physicians, Dr A. Muruganathan addressing an audience of senior Physicians, said it is time to press the United Nations to declare a Day for “Dengue”, as it is a global issue. Dr Muruganathan was the Guest of Honour at the inaugural Annual Meeting of the Sri Lanka Society of Internal Medicine (SLSIM), presided over by its President Dr Wasanatha Dissanayake.
Dr Muruganathan said there are so many ‘Days’ for various issues, but not a “Day for Dengue”, which is a burning issue worldwide. It is time that pressure be brought on the UN to declare a Day for Dengue ,he added. He also said he would promote the establishment of a Chapter of the American College of Physicians in Sri Lanka.
He said he was happy to be among distinguished Physicians and that Sri Lanka should not be left out of Global Health issues, adding that all assistance would be given, when called to strengthen the SLSIM formed in 2015. The Chief Guest at the Conference was Internist In Hematology & Medical Oncology at the University of Indonesia, Dr Aru Wisaksono Sudooya.
