A memorable vacation
It was Christmas vacation.
My best friend Thiman came to spend the vacation with me. Thiman is from Kandy and he is my age. His mom and my mom are best friends. Thiman and I have similar hobbies like collecting pictures of cars, playing cricket, football, badminton and video games.
Most of the time we played cricket, badminton and we played with the dog and enjoyed funny jokes and stories. My mother sent us to classes like English and Sinhala together.

We went to see some special cars like Alfa Romeo, Tesler, Ford Mustang and a Ford Shelby. We also went swimming a number of times.
I cannot forget the delicious food we ate at KFC and McDonalds. It was such a good vacation that I will never forget it. Thiman also feels the same and he promised me that he will come again the next vacation.

Team Spirit
I realized the importance of team spirit when I participated in a team event at our school sportsmeet which was held last month.
A team is formed when a group of individuals get together for a common task.
Team spirit can be developed through respect for each other, by helping each other and allowing everybody to come up with ideas.
No matter the religion, family or country, we have to work as a team. When we have team spirit we can stay happily and we will not lose.

My pet
My pet is a tortoise called Torty.
It has a very hard shell on its back. When it is frightened, it hides inside its shell. Torty has a star like pattern on the shell.
My pet likes to eat leaves like kankun.
It came to our garden by itself on a rainy day. I love my pet very much.

Let’s keep our school clean
Our school is a second home for us. So it is our duty to keep it clean. If we do not keep our school clean, we may fall into trouble. It can also make us sick.
How can we keep school clean? There are many ways. Each day the students should take turns to sweep the classrooms. We should plant trees in the school corridors, grounds and wherever possible. We should not make the washrooms dirty. We should not litter the classes, grounds or corridors.
Therefore, let us keep the school clean by following the above methods.

Our school Founder’s Day

Our school Founder’s Day
We had our school Founder’s Day
on February 14, 2018. It was our
13th Founder’s Day. We brought artificial roses for our principal. There was a programme in our school. The teachers and our principal lit the oil lamp. Then we cut the school cake and sang the school song and the national anthem. Then, each student of our school got a chocolate and then only we went to our classes.
Our school Founder’s Day is the best day ever. I like my school and its Founder’s Day.

My mother
The one in this whole world
who loves me more
Forever and ever
The one who cares for me
I am the whole world to her
There is no one else like my mother

She is the one who is the best forever for me
She is the one who awakes through the night
When I am sick
Until I get better and well
She helps me in my studies
She’s like a fairy godmother to me

She does all the work at home
She is the one who teaches me good things
She protects me from danger and evil
I love my mother more than the whole world!

Celebrating my birthday at Lego Land in UAE
The greatest day was my last birthday because we visited Lego Land. It is a land made out of Lego. It was so much fun!
I went with my father, mother and sister. We bought tickets and parked our jeep. Then we got into a carriage which took us to Lego Land. When we arrived a person collected our tickets.

We went inside and saw an amazing place. First we got a map and went to see buildings like Burj Khalifa, Burj al Arab, Grand Mosque, Pyramids, Taj Mahal and New York Tower. All were made out of Lego. Next there were buttons to press. There were cars and people moving, mummies dancing and lights twinkling. Then we went to a different place that had many rides like fire trucks, plane rides, spinning cups and more. Next we saw a place which had lots of Lego where you take and make your names and make a castle.

Then we went to a Lego shop and bought a Scooby Doo set. The people in the shop sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to me! After that we went home.

A train journey to Badulla
On February 2nd, my group of friends and I went on a trip to Badulla. We went on the train and it took about ten hours to get to our destination. We played our favourite game ‘dog-and-bone’ every night. It is very popular among us.
We played until midnight every day!
On the second day, we went to Adisham bungalow. It was a very beautiful place. We also went to a temple where King Walagamba was hiding for a time. Then we went to Ravana Ella.
On the third day, we were walking for about an hour; to visit Dunhinda Falls. We also bathed in a beautiful river. It was a splendid day. All of us enjoyed the whole trip.
Monday, was the day when we all separated. We were sad but quite happy when we knew that we were going to join again in April.
So we bid our good-byes, looking forward for April to arrive.

A happy moment in my life
It was December 29, last year. My Grandma Pushpa woke me from my afternoon nap to tell a surprising news. My teacher who is living in Australia had phoned and told she was coming to see me.

I jumped out of bed and waited impatiently till she came. She had left Sri Lanka about one and a half years ago. I missed her terribly.
She had been my Grade 3 and 4 class teacher. She was kind, caring and strict when necessary. Above all else, she was very beautiful. She had been my ideal teacher.

When she came, she looked more beautiful than before. She spent over an hour at my home. We talked and laughed about the good old days, memories of our school trip, her wonderful life with her husband in Melbourne and so on.

When it was time for her to leave I felt very sad. But she said she would visit me again on her next trip to Sri Lanka. She left me with a load of advice and greetings for my friends. I was so happy to be with her that day, that I couldn’t sleep until very late. It had been such a wonderful and happy moment in my life.

Good habits
All like good habits. Good habits make us popular. As students we must promote good habits. Obeying our teachers, obeying our parents and obeying all the elders are good habits. We must never forget to help our friends. We must be honest, humble and kind. We all must behave politely. Then everyone will praise us.
