Senior Additional Solicitor General Murdhu Fernando appointed to Supreme Court
View(s):Senior Additional Solicitor General Murdhu Fernando was appointed a Supreme Court Judge by President Maithripala Sirisena on Friday (9). Justice Fernando served in the Attorney General’s (AG) Department for 37 years, and was also the head of the Civil section.
She started her practice as an Attorney-at-Law in 1983, under Eardly Perera P.C. Subsequently, she joined the Law Commission as an Assistant Secretary before joining the AG’s Department in 1985.
In 1997, she assumed duties as Deputy Solicitor General and was promoted Additional Solicitor General in 2014, and also appointed President’s Counsel. In 2017 she took over as Senior Additional Solicitor General. She is a past pupil of Princess of Wales College, Moratuwa.
