Shehan slams career best 161 — steals the show

Rain hampered proceedings of the Premier limited over cricket tournament with only three matches being completed while the others ending in no decisions.
The three wins were secured by Chilaw Marians, NCC and Colts CC played at the FTZ ground in Katunayake, NCC and Panagoda.
Chilaw Marians overcame Galle CC by 97 runs on the D/L method; NCC also secured a win on the D/L method by 83 runs over Badureliya CC while Colts CC defeated Army SC by two wickets.
Chilaw Marians skipper Shehan Jayasuriya slammed a career best knock of 161 to help his side taking first lease of the wicket to make a mammoth score of 318 for 8.
Shehan’s blistering knock which came off just 139 balls comprised 15 boundaries and four sixes and he was involved in two valuable partnerships first of 135 runs for the fourth wicket with Oshada Fernando and the other of 80 runs for the fifth wicket with Ralphi Gomez.
Rain put a stoppage midway during Galle CC’s run chase and on resumption they were set a revised target of 233 runs in 34 overs but were able to muster a score of only 135.
NCC too thanks to skipper Angelo Perera and Mahela Udawatte who cracked tons made a massive score of 326 for 5 against Badureliya CC played at the NCC ground.
Angelo made a 111 ball unbeaten knock of 106 that included nine boundaries and a six while Mahela made a run a ball 117 runs with 11 boundaries and two sixes with the duo were association in a massive 186 runs for the fourth wicket.
Badureliya CC set a revised target of 223 runs in 29 overs ended with a score of 139 for 7 while Colts CC chasing 238 runs for victory helped by an unbeaten 124 by Sadeera Samarawickrama raced to the target in the 49th over.
