Fifth Harmony to take a break
View(s):The girl group Fifth Harmony ended months of speculation by taking to social media on 19th March to say they were taking a break to pursue solo careers. The group which was put together for the X- Factor USA in 2012 went on to release three albums and two big hit songs ‘Worth It’ and ‘Work At Home’. The quintet lost Camila Cabello in 2016 as she went solo. Fifth Harmony in their statement informed fans they will honour their tour obligations through the end of 2018. They will also perform several dates in the US and Iceland in May. Speculation about the group’s future began to circulate after Normani Kordei signed a solo deal last month.
Then last week Ally Brooke Hernandez inked her solo deal with Maverick /Reign Deer Entertainment.
An album comprising of re-imagined songs of Sir Elton John and recorded by some of today’s popular artists is set to roll out next month. The album ‘Revamp’ will celebrate the 50 year partnership between Elton John and Bernie Taupin. The 13 track album will feature classic tracks penned by the duo which will come out on 6th April. Artists who have contributed songs for album are Ed Sheeran, Pink, Coldplay, Florence + The Machine, Mumford & Sons, Mary J Blige, Q-Tip, Demi Lovato, The Killers, Sam Smith, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Queen of Stone Age and Elton John himself.
Hip Hop artist Iggy Azalea has taken to social media to celebrate her Green Card status in the US. The 27 year old who was born in Sydney, Australia moved to the US at the age of 16 to pursue her hip hop dream. On 14th March Azalea got her permanent residence in the US. Azalea has had a rather successful career scoring hit songs with ‘Change Your Life’, ‘Fancy’, ‘Black Widow’ and ‘Trouble’.
Roger Daltrey is a legendary musician and member of the iconic rock band The Who. Recently the 74 year old told the audience while performing at the Hard Rock Resort in Las Vegas that he was “very very deaf”.
Drake clocked eight weeks at the helm of the UK singles chart with ‘God’s Plan’. But it was no easy ride to retain the top spot. Rudimental and Co’s ‘These Days’ had edged ahead early in the week in a tight race. But in the end ‘God’s Plan’ won with a slim lead of 937 in combined sales.
Just one song that climbed significantly to gain entry to the UK top 10 singles chart is ‘The Middle’ by Zedd/ Maren Morris and Grey from 18 to No: 10. The song has taken seven weeks on its hit journey. ‘The Middle’ began its mercurial chart journey at No: 53. The Russian/ German DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist takes major credit for the pop/ country pop track and is supported fully on vocals by US Country singer Maren Mirror and the US electronic duo Grey. ‘The Middle’ is the third UK top 10 hit for Zedd where he is the lead artist.
