Shakespeare Centre calls applications for Graduation Programme
View(s):Shakespeare Centre is calling for applications for its Graduation Programme scheduled for 100 days in 18 months on a weekend-basis, commencing in 2018. The institute, Shakespeare Centre, Sri Lanka, consequent on the successful completion of a series of ten courses on Shakespeare Theatre Art crossing the boundary of 25 years, has been able to produce disciplined, skilled artistes as well as good citizens for the community of the country.
This Graduation Programme comprises two courses of which Shakespeare studies are conducted in the English medium whereas the performing arts are followed in both English and Sinhala mediums, said Visharadh Dawushala Lekamwasam, Secretary Shakespeare Centre.
The final stage of the two courses will see some of William Shakespeare’s ever popular productions like ‘Othello’ (Sinhala and English), ‘Macbeth’ (Opera style in Sinhala and English), ‘Hamlet’ (Sinhala), ‘Julius Caesar’ (Sinhala) and ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ (English Ballet drama) with the students.
“The students who are registered will also get an opportunity to take part in the film “Hamlet” (Sinhala) presented by the Shakespeare Centre” Anupama Dehiwala Secretary-Finance, Shakespeare Centre said.
