Thabari House victorious again
Thabari House emerged victorious for the second consecutive year, enhancing their performances at almost all their events in the recently concluded Inter-House Boys’ Sports Meet of Hejaaz International School held at the Tyronne Fernando Stadium, Moratuwa.
Athletes Aman Azwar (Thabari), Thariq Marikkar (Thabari), Nahthy Hassan Ashar (Khaldun), Abdur Razzak Nilam (Thabari), Rashid Rifkhan (Khaldun) and Rahil Adhil Shore (Thabari) excelled while emerging champions in their respective age categories in the track and field events.
The karate drill display, the parents’ tug-o-war, old boys’ 100m race entertained and enthralled spectators gathered at the stadium. Earlier in the day, the sports meet was declared open by the Principal, Zarina Mohideen Hizbullah amidst much spectacle and pageantry with the traditional hoisting of the lion flag, the respective house flags and the games flag. The school song was sung followed by taking the oath which was taken in unison by the entire school.
The colourful meet ended with the highly inspired and motivated squads of the respective houses and the prefects’ guild, parading around the stadium to the rhythm of the school band amidst a loud applause and a standing ovation from the parents, boys old and present, staff and well-wishers of the school.
