Cinnamon Lakeside ‘B’ dethrone Mt. Lavinia Hotel to clinch title
Cinnamon Lakeside (CLS) ‘B’ led by Shelton Silva sliced through the tournament to become the new winners of the Travel Trade Sports Club (TTSC) Men’s Team Championship,when they dethroned defending champs Mt. Lavinia Hotel (MLH) in a tense final at the Galadari Hotel, ‘California Grill’ Roof Top Restaurant last Saturday. Seventeen Men’s teams participated on a Knockout format, with each ‘tie’ comprising 3 Singles and 2 Doubles.
Top seeded, MLH beat CLS ‘A’ 3-1, Turyaa Kalutara (Turyaa) 3-0 and Cinnamon Grand Colombo (CGC) 3-0, to reach the final. CLS ‘B’ beat Galadari Hotel (Galadari) 3-1, Kingsbury 3-0 and Exotic Holidays International 3-0 on their way to the final.
Bottom seed SriLankan Airlines lost 3-1 in the 1st Round itself, to Classic Travel.
In the Women’s Singles final Nimanthi Kodituwakku (Galle Face Hotel) won her maiden title, beating Wasanthi Chathurani de Silva (Turyaa), 16-8. In the semifinals Nimanthi beat Sathya Hansamali (Kingsbury) and Wasanthi beat Rajitha Wijetunga (MLH). In the Women’s Doubles final Deshani Liyanage and Rajitha Wijethunga (MLH) beat Ashani Thuduwewatte and Sathya Hansamali (Kingsbury) 8-4. In the first semifinal Deshani and Rajitha beat Wasanthi Chathurani de Silva and Niluka Damayanthi (Turyaa). In the second semifinal Ashani and Sathya beat U.N.K. Perera and S.R.N. Fernando (CGC).
Trophies, Medals and Certificates were presented by Chief Guest Darrel Reed- Operations Manager, F&B, Galadari Hotel (Venue Sponsor), TTSC President Bonita Odayar, TTSC Vice President Anil Hapugoda, TTSC Asst Secretary Mani Sugathapala and TTSC ExCo Member Chaminda Perera.

Singles: Anushka Priyamal (CLS) beat Priyanka Peiris (MLH) 16-14; D.T. Pushpakumara (MLH) beat Pradeep Anuradha 25-0, J.A.P. Jayasinghe (CLS) beat B.G.A. Rajapaksa (MLH) 11-3.
Doubles: D.T. Pushpakumara and K.R.C. Fonseka (MLH) beat Anushka Priyamal and Sajith Chanaka (CLS) 22-13. Shelton Silva and Nalin Kumara (CLS) beat Priyanka Peiris and Nevil Andarage 15-12.
