Lahiru’s 141 gives MCA Cricket Academy resounding win over Nondescript CC Academy
View(s):A remarkable double by skipper, Lahiru Amarasekara, a student from President’s College, Rajagiriya gave MCA Cricket Academy a resounding 141 runs win on the first innings over Nondescript Cricket Academy in their 2nd Annual U-13 ‘big match’ at the MCA grounds on last Wednesday. MCA who won the toss and batted scored 227 runs in 57.4 overs. Lahiru Amarasekera held the MCA batting on his own with the tail enders, scoring 115 runs in 97 balls, while hitting six sixes and 12 fours, NCC spinner Damian de Silva from St. Joseph’s College, Maradana shackled the rest of the batsmen as he finished with excellent figures of 13.4-0-49-5.
MCA opening bowler, Nathen J Caldera from St. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia (3 for 13) made early inroads to the NCC batting and Lahiru Amarasekera did the rest, thus performing a match winning double with figures of 9-1-22-4, as NCC crash landed to 86 runs in 29 overs. MCA batted the 2nd figure and was 12 for 0 in two overs when bad light abandoned play.
The match was played according to the laws and playing conditions of Sri Lanka Schools CA (3 sessions /100 overs) MCA 17.5 points & NCC 3.5 points.
Awards were presented by the MCA President, Roshan Iddamalgoda, NCC former President & present Chairman of the Cricket Development Committee, Lesley Hewage and MCA Asst. General Secretary cum Chairman of Cricket Development Committee, Mahesh de Alwis.
