EDB forms committee on “Go-Global initiative” for the printing industry
View(s):The Export Development Board (EDB) recently formed a steering committee from high level stakeholders and experts in the printing industry, to assist the drive towards enhancing exports in three major areas, packaging, stationery and publishing,
This action was taken at a meeting between the EDB printing sector team and frontline members of the Sri Lanka Association of Printers (SLAP) as a major step in the “Go-Global” initiative of the printing industry, SLAP sources said.
EDB is also in the process of completing a coffee table book to be placed at Sri Lankan and foreign embassies and such other locations to promote the capabilities of the Sri Lankan printing industry for export growth.
In addition two short video clips are being produced to complement the message given in the coffee-table book that can be shown in export promotion events as well as to be used by printing companies as a curtain raiser to their individual presentations, SLAP disclosed.
Delan Silva, first Vice President of SLAP, was elected chairman of the new committee at the meeting presided over by Saman Maldeni – Director – Export Services of EDB. Ranjith Fernando, President of SLAP also participated in the discussions
The other members of the new committee are: Krishna Ravindran -Printcare Plc; Keerthi Gunawardene – Graphic Systems; Giridaran – Intermart Printers; Chaminda Kariyawasam- Softwave Printing and Packaging; Dilum Fernando JF&I Packaging; S. Sunandini, Gunaratne Offset; Dammikka Siriwardhana – Design –Logics and Dinesh Kulatunga – Neptune Publications; Ananda Wickramaratne – Ingrin Institute of Printing and Graphics and Lal Jayawardene (SLAP). EDB’s printing sector team will be part of the committee.
