Yevgeniy of Kazakhstan wins second stage
Yevgeniy Nepomnyachshiy of Kazakhstan emerged as the winner of the Lanka T-Cup 2018 International Cycle Tour Second Stage with a time of 2 hrs, 12 minutes, 23 secs. The total distance of the second stage was 90.9km from Mahiyangana to Kandy.
This is a three day tour. The final day is today which will be from Kandy to Negombo. The total distance of the race is 350.9km.
The first stage from Pasikudah to Mahiyangana was won by Yasuharu Nakajima of Japan. He is currently the tour leader at the end of the second stage. He has completed 209.1 km to date and has taken 5 hours 00.31 secs.
In overall second place is Stepan Astafyev of Kazakhsthan with a time of 5 hrs 00.34. In third place is Yoshimitsu Hiratsuka of Japan with a time of 5 hours 00.43 secs.
Sri Lanka has fielded two teams – Sri Lanka and President’s team with five members in each team. Romeh Viran is in front having obtained overall 30th place. His overall time is 5 hrs. 17 mts 41 secs. Next is Janaka Hemantha Kumara in 36th position with a time of 5 hrs 19 mts 02 secs. In 37th place is Prabath Madusanka Silva with a time of 5.19.15 secs.
The race is being held for the second time with Lanka Sportreizen (LSR) organising the event which is a internationally recognised cycling event.
The winners will receive prize money of US Dollars 24,235.
