NCC Cricket Academy emerge champions and claim the glittering Palink Champions Trophy defeating SA Cricket Academy in the 2018 Under 11 Boys Invitational Inter Academy cricket tournament concluded at the Welikada Prisons Grounds recently.

SA Cricket Academy -- runners-up

Batting first in the final match NCC Cricket Academy scored 140 runs for the loss of one wicket in their allotted session. Chamika Heenatigala top scored with an elegant 64 while Chamod Perera chipped in with a useful 43 runs. Both Heenatigala and Perera handled the SA Academy bowlers intelligently making use of the loose deliveries to the maximum. These young budding batsmen exhibited an elegant batting display placing the ball through vacant areas to the ropes.

Moratuwa lads never found run scoring easy against a well controlled bowling attack of the Maitland Place boys. Each bowler bowled to a nagging length was backed up by a smart bunch of fielders.SA Cricket Academy collected 62 for 7 in their session to end this year’s edition as runners-up to receive the Palink Runner-up Trophy. The third place was won by Sanat Jayasooriya Cricket Academy.

Challenge trophies and cash prices were donated by Palitha Gunasekera, founder of the Palink School of Cricket. Gunasekera is a recognized Cricket administrator recognized by the United Nations in  Sri Lanka. The cricket materials donated at the prize distribution was donated by Lasantha Amarasinghe, proprietor of Chance Sports, Borella.

SA Cricket Academy (Moratuwa), Rehans Sports Cricket Academy (Moratuwa), Oval Cricket Academy (Colombo 8), Sanath Jayasooriya Cricket Academy (Colombo 7), Serendib Cricket Academy (Gampaha), Hemantha Ranasinghe Cricket Academy (Narahenpita), Gamini Perera Cricket Academy (Colombo 7), NCC Cricket Academy (Colombo 7), Serendib Cricket Academy (Galle) and Palink Cricket Academy.
