Western Province a Slice above the rest
Nishantha Fernando won the Men's Singles gold medal
Western Province (WP) Slicers dominated the 44th National Sports Festival’s 2018 Carom Championship at Sports Ministry Indoor Stadium, Colombo 7, with 4 Gold and 2 Silver.
The champion WP Slicers won Gold in the Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Women’s Team events, while Sabaragamuwa Province with 1 Gold in the Women’s Singles and 2 Silver in the Women’s Doubles and Team event, were Runners-up followed by Uva Province (UP) with a Gold in the Men’s Team event.
Nishantha Fernando (WP) and Yasika Rahubadda (Sabaragamuwa P) were adjudged the Best Men and Women Players respectively, with Nishantha executing the solitary White Slam in the tournament
The Sports Development Department of the Ministry of Sports in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Carom Federation, organised this Championship which had over 90 participants representing the 9 Provinces.
The Women's Singles gold medal was won by Yasika Rahubadda
