Nilan choreographs Italian ‘Heena Reyak’
View(s):‘Heena Reyak’, the Italian version of Sri Lanka’s dance concert ‘Ridee Reyak’ was held in Milano, Rome and Verona featuring popular film stars from Sri Lanka.
Well known and award-winning dance choreographer Nilan Maligaspe choreographed the dance sequences of the ‘Heena Reyak’ concerts. All songs performed at the ‘Heena Reyak’ were Sinhala film songs from current and old movies.
Popular artistes Jeevan Kumaratunga, Veena Jayakody, Cletus Mendis, Palitha Silva, Sarath Dikkumbura and the other young generation stars performed in ‘Heena Reyak’ presented by Dikkumbura Films.
The most significant thing was a host of Sri Lankan children domiciled in Italy were trained and absorbed into the shows as back up dancers.
Nilan Maligaspge paid a glowing tribute to those talented children and their teachers for their commitment and dedication in keeping our art forms alive and also to the organsiers Mr. Ranga and Lloyd.
‘About 150 children living in Milano, Rome, Verona and from other cities were selected and trained for months for the three Italian concerts. The selected songs and video based dance sequences were sent to Italy well in advance for the training and to prepare. I took up the final rehearsal sessions for about 4 to 5 days before the concerts. It was a fantastic effort from the young children from the Sri Lankan community and the feedback have been enormous’ said Nilan
