Lyceum Wattala emerge 2018 champions
Lyceum International School Wattala beat British School in Colombo by 5 wickets to clinch the Inter-International Under-13 Cricket Tournament 2018. Batting first in the crucial final British School in Colombo were restricted to 140-9 in their allotted 40 overs and Lyceum Wattala reached the target losing 5 wickets and with 18 deliveries to spare.
Lyceum Wattala beat Wycherley International School, Royal Institute and OKI International in the first round to reach the semi-finals, where they beat Stafford International School convincingly. They met British School in the final, which was expected to be a thrilling final. Eventually Lyceum Wattala overcame the equally talented British School team to win the title.
For the winners Uvin Perera top scored with 40 while Travin Nishanthan (33) and Joshua Prabagaran (30) contributed with useful knocks. Uvin Perera went on to claim the awards for the Best Bowler and Man-of-the-Tournament. The tournament was organised by Lyceum Wattala and was held from March 2 to 16 at the Railway ground in Mahara and Lyceum Wattala ground. A total of 14 teams from international schools participated in the tournament.
