In celebration of the fast growing Sri Lankan culinary and hospitality industry, the 18th edition of Culinary Art Food Expo – CAFE 2018 will be held from June 1 – 3 at the BMICH. Organized by the Chefs’ Guild of Sri Lanka, the exhibition will include demonstrations of food and beverage preparation for the public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The event brings together regional professionals from sectors ranging from food and drink, food service, hospitality equipment to hospitality service providers. The event was announced to the media at a news conference at the Orchid Hall, BMICH.
This year’s event will feature chefs testing their talents against their fellow chefs in several events- Sri Lanka Festive Buffet Culinary Hotel Championship, 7-Star Master Baker of the Year, Sri Lanka Artistic Creative Pastry Chef, Sri Lanka IDL Old Reserve Arrack and IDL Vodka Cocktail Championship and Scan Sunquick Mocktail Competition.
The event will also feature a culinary competition for home cooks. “This is a learning opportunity for home cooks and an opportunity for professional chefs to learn from home cooks,” said Chef Madhawa Weerabaddhana, Director of Special Events at the Chefs’ Guild of Sri Lanka. Eight international judges and six local judges will pick the winners and provide feedback at the culinary competitions that run parallel to the exhibition.
