Most Outstanding President 2017/18 Lions Clubs International District 306 A1
View(s):Rasika De Alwis, President of the Galkissa Lions Club, has been presented with the Most Outstanding President award for 2017/18. He was selected from 75 club presidents within the Lions Clubs International District 306A1.
In 2012, Mr. De Alwis joined the Lions Club which was inaugurated in 1986.
In 2014/2015 Rasika was appointed as the Secretary of the Club and during his tenure as Secretary, he undertook several community service projects for the less privileged people in society. During his tenure, the Lions Club of Galkissa was judged as the Best Club in the Lions District 306 A1.
As President, since 2017, he has carried out a number of noteworthy projects. They included the Mount Lavinia railway station art and mural competition for school children, the Homagama mega health camp where 1,200 people were treated, the initiation of a youth Leo Club and several Free Eye and Cataract Camps in which free spectacles were distributed.
On account of his achievements for the Lions movement he was finally presented with the Most Outstanding President award for 2017/18 by District Governor, Lion Wilson Wijegunaratne. He is a product of S Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia.
