Nicki Minaj delays release of latest album
View(s):Nicki Minaj has delayed the release of her new album ‘Queen’ by two months. The rapper/singer had originally set the date of the album release for 15th June. However Minaj wants time to improve the collaborations which are set to feature on the new album. Minaj has defied her record label executives who feel she should stick to the original release date.
Andrew Ridgeley who was George Michael’s former Wham bandmate, feels there should be a permanent memorial to the late singer who died in December 2015 according to reports from the UK. A plan to build a statue in Oxfordshire faced objections from locals and local councillors.
Celine Dion has resumed her residency at The Colosseum, Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas on May 22. The 50 year old ‘My Heart Will Go On’ hitmaker underwent surgery to repair a middle ear issue and was recuperating for nearly two months. She will perform at the Caesar’s Palace until June 9. Dion is due to embark on a tour of Asia from June 26 in Tokyo and take on Macao, Singapore, Jakarta, Taipei, Manila, Bangkok and then move over to Australia and New Zealand.
Sigala’s to release his debut album ‘Brighter Days’ in September. Sigala a British DJ and producer whose real name is Bruce Fielder first burst on to the pop scene in 2015 with the chart topping song ‘Easy Love’. The song featured the uncredited vocalist Vula Malinga and Kyle Johnson. Sigala has since released nine songs but only six will make it to the debut album. His most recent release ‘Lullaby’ featuring Paloma Faith peaked at No: 6 on the UK chart.
Diplo has formed another group called Silk City with Mark Ronson. It comes hot on the heels of his other super group LSD with Labrinth and Sia. The first single from Silk City is the 80’s style ‘One Can’t Get Better’ featuring Daniel Merriweather. The next release will feature Dua Lipa. Diplo whose real name is Thomas Pentz has two other side groups called Major Lazer and Jack U.
Pop singer Jess Glynne has secured a top 10 hit this week with ‘I’ll Be There’ which has climbed from 13 to No: 6 on the UK singles chart. The song is the first release from her next untitled album. The soulful song carries Glynne’s swinging upbeat vocals. It’s her sixth top 10 song on the UK chart. Her last being ‘Take Me Home’ in 2015. Glynne has however been the featured vocalist on four other songs, all of which were chart toppers. The most recent being ‘These Days’ for Rudimental alongside Macklemore and Dan Caplen.
Calvin Harris is No: 1 on the UK singles chart for a sixth straight week with ‘One Kiss’ featuring the vocals of Dua Lipa. The song is the 24 year old Scotsman’s longest reigning UK charting song. It has topped the charts in Belgium, Germany, Ireland and New Zealand. ‘One Kiss’ is co-penned by Harris under his actual name Adam Wiles with Dua Lipa and Canadian singer and songwriter Jessie Reyez. Harris is also producer of ‘One Kiss’.
