With an awareness program themed ‘Lets Run and Walk Properly’ the Moratuwa YMCA celebrated the 174th birthday of the Universal YMCA Movement with the YMCA Family on June 2 at the Lunawa Jogging Track.

The awareness program was conducted by Malith De Silva, a veteran sports instructor of the University of Sri Jayawardenapura providing essential tips in achieving fitness goals for the citizens of Moratuwa. The program was patronised by a large number of citizens who braved the weather.

An attractive event of the day – ‘YMCA Challenge’, an event where the participants were required run/walk as many laps as possible at the Lunawa Jogging Track with a one way length of 1.4 km was participated by 78 competitors taking the challenge to cover a total distance of 196kms.

The event was organised by the Staff of the Moratuwa YMCA with the unstinted support from two Korean volunteers, Youth and Children’s Clubs of Moratuwa ‘Y’ under the patronage of its Sports Committee.
