MUSCLEMEN AT A LOSS
View(s):Musclemen in the island are languishing as no muscleman’s event has been held for nearly two years. At a recent press conference the head table had a vacant spot which actually should have been occupied by the said secretary. The two officials who are at loggerheads of this association are charge sheeting each other as a result the sport is suffering.
HENCHMEN AT WORK
The head of this sports body is no more but his henchmen are doing the work that they have been assigned to do. This involves business and political work. What is more they are not allowed to punch in their ‘ins’ and ‘outs’ to mark attendances but have to sign in and out and the sports body concerned are paying their salaries!
ALL TO DO WITH A CRICKET PITCH
There is a big ha-ho regarding a cricket pitch down South. The international body is insistent that two officials are involved in this. Then comes the news that one official has sold his high-powered vehicle to the other for a hefty sum. Then there is the question, how come if these officials are not on good terms, that the vehicle has been sold without much fuss with all the mystery surrounding the incident?
INVITED TO RUSSIA
Two under 12 members of a football academy were invited to Russia to attend a meeting in connection with the World Cup with FIFA footing all bills. There are other academies in the island but this particular academy was invited for the event with two officials as well.
CHIEF GUEST FOR MONDAY’S EVENT
A top medal winning athlete who has been overlooked has now been invited for top of an Olympic event to be held on Monday while the other body is planning out its strategies. This athlete is the chief guest for Monday’s event.
‘FREE BASIS’
The queues are gathering outside a sports house with the hope of gaining tickets for an Asian sports event where running and jumping are the main events. The amount of athletes for jumping and running events amounts to about 20 athletes and no less than 10 officials! Your guess is as good as mine; the queues are for officials and followers of the sport, who hope to witness the events on a ‘free basis’.
