A novel concept by the Sri Lanka Police has been tried out in several localities, with a different experience in Naula. The Officer-in-Charge of Naula Police, Inspector of Police (IP), Sugath Bandara Wijesundara initiated a Social Service (SS) programme to distribute shoes for schoolchildren and clothes for elders in the area, with 20 schoolchildren receiving shoes. As a trial of the above concept, the Police tried out voluntary road construction, public support to tackle crime and improvement of housing by mobilising the villagers.

The Civil Defense Corps was involved with the Naulla Police, to involve the public in these SS assignments initiated by the Police.
