Sussex Negombo wins overall title
Sussex College Negombo won the overall title at the Inter-Sussex Track and Field Championship 2018 held at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo. Students representing the 20 colleges of the Sussex College Network gathered on June 13 and 14 to the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo to compete with one another for the Inter-Sussex Track and Field Championship Trophy 2018.

“Participating in a sport is beneficial in producing a wholesome human being as sports does not merely aid the physical aspect of the individual, but enhances the mind, while building resilience, discipline, encouraging team effort, manifesting healthy competition and much more,” stated Ruwan Pradeep Perera, the holder of the South Asian Games Pole Vault record, an international gold medalist and an allrounder in sports. He is also the Deputy Director Sports at the Sussex College Network, granting all students an opportunity to appreciate the value of sports while gaining knowledge about its overall benefits.
The event was graced by the Chief Guests Susanthika Jayasinghe, Sri Lanka’s Olympic silver medalist and Brigadier Uditha Bandara, the Deputy Commadant of Minneriya Army Training Centre.
The Sussex College Network is the largest private school network in Sri Lanka which comprises of 20 colleges which spread across the island. The Sussex group which is led by the renowned exponent of education, K.A. Sunil Jayatissa, Founder and Chairman of Sussex College Network believes in granting the best opportunities in education and sports and other extra- curricular activitiesto each student.
