Playwright Rajitha Dissanayake’s latest play “Adara Wasthuwa” (Love Object) will go on the board at 3.30 pm and 6.45 pm on July 15 at the Rukmani Devi Memorial Theatre in Negombo.

This political play seeks to question the relationships we develop and how they are challenged with the social and political changes in our surrounding. The educated university lecturer is working for a minister and he has compromised his principles with the financial and political power he enjoys.

Rajitha Dissanayake ranks among the top original playwrights to emerge in the last two decades and has produced well-known plays like ‘Nathuwa Bari
Minihek’, ‘Apahu Herenna Ba’, ‘Sihina Horu Aran’ and ‘Weeraya Merilla’. His plays have focused on burning socio-political issues and have drawn crowds, sparked debate, won awards and toured internationally.

The play stars Shyam Fernando, Nadeeshani Peliarachchi, T humindu Dodantenna and Kasun Chathuranga make up the cast.

Music directed by Kapila Poogalaarachchi, set designing by Chamara Wijesinghe, make-up by Priyantha Dissanayake, light designing by Ranga Samarakoon and stage management is by Vijith Nuwan and Nalin Lusena.

Tickets are available at Minal Digital Colour Lab – Negombo and Rukmani Devi Theatre gate. The play is organised by Jude Srimal.
