78th Prize-Giving of St. Sylvester’s College, Kandy
View(s):The Chief Guest at the 78th Prize-Giving of St. Sylvester’s College, was an Old Boy, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Plantation and current SLAS President B.L.A. Janaka Dharmakeerthi said that, “One has to look ahead and be disciplined to face life.”
He said that, while he was a student, he never knew the religion or race of his colleagues, but they were part and parcel of life within the school and outside.
Mr Dharmakeerthi said he entered St. Sylvester’s on a scholarship examination with a ‘ Double Promotion’, but he never could be 1st in his class. However, he steadily went forward due to his disciplined mind and vision, as the most important aspect in any field of activity is discipline.
The Principal P.A.S. Bandara read the Progress Report of the College and also paid tribute to the Old Boys for their unstinting support in Sports and other areas, which he appreciated.
“The first “Smart Class” in the Sinhala medium, was established for the first time in the country, at this College,” he said.
