As usual the local Jim Reeves Fan Club will be hosting a special radio programme on SLBC to commemorate Jim Reeves 54th death anniversary on July 31st. Seen above is perhaps the only picture of that kind to have reached Sri Lanka, with Jim Reeves and his wife Mary Reeves together. It was personally autographed by Mary Reeves, which is now a treasured item of the local Jim Reeves Fan Club.
Mary Reeves once said, being such a loving couple, both of them went on a honeymoon every year since they were married… it was Mary who kept Jim Reeves legacy alive, after his untimely death in that fatal air crash on July 31st, 1964, few miles away from Nashville, Tennessee airport, instantly killing him and his manager, the only two passengers in the plane, piloted by Jim himself.
Even after 54 years of his death, Jim is still the most popular and most requested artiste among Sri Lankan music fans. Not a day passes by without at least one song by Jim Reeves being played over the airwaves. For more details call, Jayaratne Perera on 2795997.
