Gen.Deshamannya Denis Perera Memorial Oration on August 11

The Association of Retired Flag Rank Officers (ARFRO) will present the 6th General Deshamannya Denis Perera Memorial Oration on August 11, at 6.30 pm, at the Auditorium of the General Sir John Kothelawala Defence University (KDU), Kandawala Road, Ratmalana.
The oration, titled, “Why a Navy?”, will be be delivered by Sri Lanka Navy Commander Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe. ARFRO is an organisation founded by the late General Deshamanya Denis Perera, to harness the energies, expertise and experience of retired Senior Officers of the Armed Services, for utilisation in enterprises such as nation building.
The Late General Deshamanya Joseph Everard Denis Perera VSV, D Litt (Honoris Causa), FCMI (UK), FIMgt (SL) ndc psc, served as Commander of the Sri Lanka Army from 1977 to 1981. On his retirement from Service, he was appointed Sri Lanka High Commissioner to Australia, and was later the Chairman of the Securities & Exchange Commission, and Chancellor of the KDU.
