Century passed ‘Yashodhara’ till Aug. 9
View(s):Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne’s latest cinematic creation ‘Yashodhara’, which passed successful 100 screening days will continue to be screened till August 9. The film which was made based on the character of ‘Bimbhadevi’ alias ‘Yashodhara’, the beloved wife of Siddhartha will be screened at 74 theatres around the country.
Produced by H. D. Premasiri for Sarasavi Sineru, the film is also co-produced by Kumudini Dias Haputhanthri, Chandu Haputhanthri and Chandri Haputhanthri.
Indian stars A. Chowdhury and Pallavi Subash play the main roles of Siddhartha and Yashodhara while the other roles are played by Dineth De Silva (Devdath) Sangeetha Thedani (Mahamaya) Ajith Weerasinghe (Suddhodana) Udari Perera (Nanda) Heshan Manula (Nanda) Shammu Kasun (Channa) Kamal Deshapriya (Supprabuddha) Thumindu Dodanthenna (Kavvyakkaraya) Ruvi Lakmali (Radhitha) Wilson Gunaratne (Asitha) Anesta Gray (Uththara) and Nethsuka Muluthenrala (Rahula)
The advisors for the film are Professor Bellanwila Wimalaratane thero, Professor Medagoda Abhayatissa thero, Professor Agalakada Sirisumena thero, Professor Chandima Wijebandara, Professor Sumanapala Galmangoda, Professor Asanga Thilakaratne, Senior Lecturer Nawalapitiya Anuradha and Suddhammika Bikkhuni.
Behind the screen Channa Deshapriya handles camera, Bimal Dushmantha is the art director, Wimal Deshapriya is the assistant director, Manohari Hewawasam is the production manager. Makeup is handled by Priyantha Dissanayake, costume designing by Thilina Hettigamage, music direction is by Rohana Weerasinghe, choreography by Chandana Wickramasinghe, visual effects supervisor is Chathra Weeraman and vocalists are Nanda Malani, (introducing) Ravindra Karunarathne, Asanka Dhananjaya and the production coordinators are A.D. Ranjith Kumara and Nimal Wijesiri Senadhira.
In addition to direction, Prof. Ariyaratne wrote the lyrics, dialogues and screenplay of ‘Yashodhara’.
